Oberon Centre | Entry, Reception and Waiting Areas

Reimagining the Arrival Experience

The arrival experience at Oberon Centre was redefined to create a more welcoming, functional, and intuitive front of house setting. The scope encompassed reception and waiting areas, forming a clear and engaging entry aligned with Columbia’s evolving standards.

The existing layout offered a strong base, with opportunities to introduce greater warmth, refine finishes, and improve spatial clarity. The upgrade delivers a brighter and more engaging setting that enhances comfort while supporting easier navigation for residents, visitors, and staff.

The Dynamis Approach

Dynamis removed outdated elements and introduced a refined layout supported by new joinery, improved lighting, and reconfigured services. Custom reception features and integrated signage enhance usability, while softer, energy efficient lighting creates a calmer, more comfortable atmosphere.

Subtle references to local character were incorporated through finishes, strengthening identity while maintaining a composed and unified feel.

The Outcome

A welcoming and well resolved reception area now supports both functionality and comfort. The upgraded setting offers a clear and intuitive arrival experience, creating a strong and positive first impression that reflects the quality of care within the facility.

Strathdale | Dining, Lounge, Staff and Resident Areas

Transforming a Dated Facility Under Live Conditions

At Strathdale, the focus was on revitalising key internal areas to create a more vibrant and supportive setting for residents and staff. Dining, lounge, staff, and resident areas were refreshed to improve underutilised zones and encourage a more engaging daily experience.

Delivery was managed within a complex live environment, with the facility operating at approximately ninety percent occupancy throughout the works. A concrete structure limited major structural changes, while the program extended over two years amid lockdowns and ongoing trade and supply challenges. Despite these constraints, the transformation introduced a more open and connected layout that supports activity, comfort, and ease of use.

The Dynamis Approach

Dynamis enhanced existing areas through improved layouts, upgraded finishes, and modernised shared facilities. Stages 1 and 2 were delivered with precision and adaptability, creating brighter surroundings suited to a diverse, multicultural community.

Rather than undertaking major reconstruction, the strategy focused on unlocking the potential of existing areas. Dining zones, lounges, nurse stations, offices, sitting areas, and kitchenettes were aligned with a refreshed design direction, improving flow and usability. Updated kitchens and thoughtfully designed communal areas now support daily routines while enhancing staff efficiency and wellbeing.

Careful staging ensured works progressed smoothly within a live care setting, maintaining continuity while enabling progressive upgrades.

A brighter and more functional setting now enhances resident satisfaction and overall engagement. Areas feel more connected and intuitive, supporting stronger staff efficiency, improved morale, and more effective day to day performance while reinforcing a clear sense of care and quality.

At Willowood Centre, the focus was on refreshing the reception and waiting areas to meet updated design standards and elevate the arrival experience. The upgrade delivers a more welcoming and comfortable setting, with a strong emphasis on accessibility and dementia friendly design.

The previous layout required modernisation to better support resident needs and align with Columbia’s evolving direction. The refreshed environment now feels calm, clear, and easy to navigate, offering greater comfort and a stronger sense of arrival.

Dynamis introduced new reception elements including custom joinery, feature wall panelling, and integrated storage, supported by upgraded flooring, lighting, and finishes. Electrical layouts were reconfigured to suit the improved arrangement, ensuring flexibility and long term performance.

Every detail was resolved to enhance usability while delivering a modern aesthetic aligned with the broader Columbia portfolio.
