Labs 2, 3 & 4 represent the final chapter in this evolution. Rather than standalone additions, they were conceived as the completion of a cohesive, future-focused science environment within the Mallik Centre.

As pedagogical direction evolved, the school required contemporary laboratories capable of supporting multidisciplinary learning and adapting to advancing technologies. The new spaces needed to encourage collaboration, creativity and critical thinking, while embedding wellbeing and sustainability into their design. Equally important was certainty in delivery, clear communication, transparency, and proactive risk management to ensure confidence at every stage.

Aligned with the school’s ambition to create a state-of-the-art science environment, the laboratories integrate flexible workstations, adaptable teaching zones and advanced ICT capabilities. The spaces are designed to mirror the sophistication of university-level facilities, encouraging hands-on experimentation, interactive learning and innovation beyond the traditional classroom model. Sustainable materials, energy-efficient systems and biophilic elements further reinforce long-term performance and student wellbeing. 

Delivered through a streamlined single-source methodology, the project maintained accountability, minimised disruption and safeguarded quality throughout. The strong partnership with the principal and the leadership team enabled open dialogue and confident decision-making, allowing innovation to move forward with clarity and control. 

The outcome is a cohesive science environment that nurtures curiosity, strengthens STEM capability and reflects The Hills Grammar School’s enduring commitment to excellence.
